Mike,
I think you've diagnosed it correctly. In fact, since getting my
radiator rodded out, _my_ XJ6 runs cool. Even with a 190'
thermostat, it takes forever to warm up and doesn't get up to the
green. This is not good for the car.
Last night I pulled the thermostat, inspected it, dropped it in
nearly-boiling water and checked that it opens at 190'F. It
does, and it's the right kind (Waxstat, with the little disc that
blocks the bypass). Dunno, but I'm going to replace it.
