I had my 84 XJ6 in to "Certified" Jaguar Dealer mechanics in both Scottsdale, Arizona, and in Austin, Texas for a problem which included shift noise and a really severe shudder when accelerating from a full stop...particularly when going up a hill, among other things. $3000 US and 5 weeks in the shop later, the problem remained unfixed. I felt ripped-off, and the Service Manager and Dealer Managers (in Austin) kept avoiding/rescheduling our "appointments" to resolve my questions and concerns. My cooling system also catastrophically failed 1/2 mile after I DROVE IT OUT OF THE SERVICE BAY (flooded a parking space) in Austin. They wouldn't even pay for a tow back to the dealership, let alone acknowledge they might have done something to cause the problem. They made me feel like an evil scum-of-the-earth for even suggesting such. I took the car to a local NON-JAGUAR mechanic, but someone who really loves what he does, and he found the REAL problem (differential) within 2 hours! Do you think I'll ever go to a "certified" Jaguar mechanic, let alone a Jaguar Dealership again? John A. 84 XJ6 Follow-Ups:
