My local Jag dealer is part of a large multi-make organization that has a number of separate "stores" here in Northern Virginia. The Honda dealer right next door is part of the same group, even the buildings are identical except for the sign. The experience, on the other hand, is dramatically different. The Jag dealer treats me like royalty, despite the fact that I last bought a car from him in 1988 (and the one before that in 1974!) The Honda dealer, who I bought a car from as recently as last April, treats me far worse. When I went by (at their invitation) to ckeck out the XK-8 several of the Jag staff greeted me by name. I received several inquires on the health of my XJ-S, with some of the "older" staff mentioning to the new ones how nice my H&E convertible was, and how well I kept it. Other than an occasional trip to the parts department, I haven't frequented the place for several years, and I don't recall the last time the car saw the inside of their service bays. Yet they always treat me as though I traded up to a new car every year. Smart people, for if and when I decide to get another new Jag I'll certainly buy it from them. MikeC References:
