Then you can cut off the pieces, although I've successfully done this procedure with some REALLY bad mounts, while being careful. A mount in reasonable condition will stretch about an inch, thereby applying a significant amount of disassembly pressure while the penetrating oil sinks in. ...some visual inspection was assumed.... 2) <<Careful with the bottle jack, as it may poke through the car if it's rusted.>> Answer: Again, some visual inspection is required. A 4x4 block of wood on top of the bottle jack will preclude any poking through a rusted unibody. Lately I aim the top of the jack at the subframe mount. Sorry - I was trying to be brief, and may have left out some of the obvious. Miles
