Bonnet & Boot Prop RodsJust thought I'd add my 2 cents to this discussion. I'd always just assumed that all the early 120's had chrome hood and boot props and hood frames: that later 120's and 140's and 150's had grey-green boot props and hood frames (except hood frames were always body clor on DHC's). and they all had black bonnet props. So, I decided to take a little informal survey in my used parts inventory, and found I had 3 chrome boot props, 6 boot props that were either grey-green or sanded to reveal original grey-green paint, and 7 bonnet props, 4 of which were black, 1 chrome and 2 that were bare metal. I don"t know what this proves, but I know I've never seen any originally painted body color. - Jon Pollock 670425 - Chrome/chrome - Ron Duncan John, The bonnet prop on 674443 was and is black. The boot prop is that grey (greenish) color. Bernie Yurt To Ron, Thanks for the info re boot and bonnet props - can you and Bernie Y also advise finisn of seat frames? hood frames? on your bonnet do you have on the underside a reinforcing brace under where the bonnet badge sits? grab handle finish (chromed? grey?) - Regards, John Elmgreen Seat Frames..Chrome; Hood Frame..Chrome; Grab Handle..Chrome; Underside of bonnet badge brace ..Will check - Ron Duncan Jon, Very interesting survey of your bonnet props etc. What cars do they come from - any idea? I have seen apparently (yes, a significant word) original props on two DHC cars that were body colour. I have also heard reports of black props, but it is difficult to be sure what was original here, the part is so easy to change and repaint. All other input welcome - what about Bernie with his one owner car? - Regards, John Elmgreen Bonnet prop: Black; Boot prop: grey; Hood frame: grey; Seat frame: grey; Under medalion brace : yes - Best regards to all, Bernie Yurt Oh yes, Grab handle; grey, No wonder they cut the price to $3,395.00 NEW. - Best regards to all, Bernie Yurt No brace under bonnet badge on 670425 - Ron Duncan No brace under the bonnet badge of 660636 - Larry J
