V12 Valve Cover Removal

I just changed a leaky fuel injector on my car the other day (a relatively simple job that took about 25 minutes)and noticed that my left valve cover, especially at the back of the motor is really leaking badly. After looking the valve cover over, let me guess, I'm going to need to pull off the entire intake manifold, fuel rail, etc. to get to the valve cover??? Has anybody done this job on a 5.3 Litre V12? If anybody has, does anybody know any shortcuts that I can do to help me through this. I'm not looking forward to doing this job.

It's a snack, John.

  1. Remove air cleaner
  2. Disconnect fuel supply pipe from injector rail
  3. Disconnect return pipe from relief valve (tight access, be patient)
  4. Remove manifold nuts and washers
  5. Cut rubber hose (it'll be perished and needs to be renewed)and remove the air injection rail
  6. Lift off the manifold complete with injectors and fuel rail
  7. And there you are, ready to deal with the cam cover. Have fun!
