I found it very informative but wanted to warn others about an apparent inaccuracy contained there. The author appears to have worked under the assumption that US fuel is commonly available in grades of 87 RON and 92 RON, making it inferior to UK gasoline (petrol) in it's ability to prevent pinging (pinking).

In fact, US gasoline grading does not use the RON scale. Instead, US gasoline grade is reported as (RON + MON)/2. This actually works out to be a higher grade than most UK gasoline since MON is a lower number than RON and has the effect of reducing the reported octane rating.

I just wanted to clarify this so anyone in the US that reads the article will not get unduly alarmed.
