Swallow started life as Swallow Sidecars Ltd, later to become Swallow Coachbuilding Ltd (and eventually SS Cars Ltd). Both company varieties and products are currently covered here.

The item Open in new window An original letter from and personally signed by William Lyons to a member of staff ('Bate') thanking him for his service in the works Fire Brigade during the war. Also shown are Mr Bates original invitation to join the then Swallow Coachbuilding Company in 1934, his SS Cars Ltd pass with its special Fireman's Permit, and his copy of the company's Mutual Aid Fund for War Damage Rules and Benefits booklet. It shows him to be a fully paid up member 1934-1944 Swallow/SS Cars Ltd
