[xj-s] Re Assemble time

You're ahead of me. I still haven't even ordered parts.

As I mentioned in another message today, there are exactly 5 pairs of
studs that are exposed to coolant -- all 7/16", basically all of the
7/16" pairs except for the pair at each end. If the head gasket
works as intended, neither the outer four 7/16" studs nor ANY of the
3/8" studs should be exposed to coolant.

Hylomar the 7/16" studs, anti-seize the 3/8".

Get all new 3/8" washers. Costs about $10.

That is the correct 10 studs, but those aren't sealing rings. If
you'll look at the top of the block, you'll note there is no surface
for these rings to be crushed against. I dunno why those rings look
like they do; maybe they're a harder metal because they DON'T get
crushed.

> Do you have the new gaskets in hand yet?

No, but I have a brand new B side head gasket laying around from
prior work.

It won't on mine, because I'm gonna have filters in the radiator
hoses. Hylomar isn't the biggest worry, but it is one of many. I
wouldn't be gooping that Hylomar on the washers anyway; just give
them a light smear.
