[xj-s] No second gear in the box

Once I started my XJ-s V12 (1980) as usual and stopped at the red
signal, so I drove 200 m. When the light changed into green , it was
impossible to move the car at any speed. The engine was perfect but in
tran was like neutral.. After a while, I succeeded to park the car and

stopped the engine. I wondered if I was dreaming or not.. So I started
the engine and it worked perfectly..for 200 meters and then it began the

same stupid film. So I pushed the car...- yes this is possible - to park

it.
Later I read the book of our friend and discovered that this behavior
could be a result of bad installation of O-ring in the tran pan. My
mecanic could tell me that there was no O-ring which was installed with
the oil filter ! That happened to one who use to buy cheap used car.

After that it works well for about 100 km.
And now I've another strange behavior.
When cold, - for the first 200m- it's look normal then..
I drive the car like if the 2 disappears: I 've the impression that the
kick-down is always in the function. From 0 to 60 mph the 1st is used
and then sometimes it works well. If I let it down the the speed is like

neutral. This is not so good in a country of mountains ! If I put the
gear in the 1st it looks like to be like normal and of course the engine

scream a lot. With the second it is the same except that I have the
neutral when lowering the speed .

Have anybody any idea about such problem ?
