Hi guys, I have a 1986 XJS/12cyl. This is getting to be a 'love and hate' relationship. I had some overheating problems, when summer arrived. The auxiliary fan motor front bearing was shot, i changed the assembly for a SAAB/900 turbo fan, looks and blows better. Still the overheat. So, i had my radiator cleaned and rodded. Error, it was shot, had to have it rebuilt ($$$). Now the temp gage is stable, be it on the highway or in the city. This last adventure cooked my distributor, so took it out and rebuilt it. Changed the distributor cap and rotor(used ). Changed the vacuum advance module, it was backed like the rest. Changed the plugs and adjusted the advance to 18degres. Now, i expect to get good acceleration, from zero, or on the highway. nogo. This is where the HATE comes in. Just can't figure it out. The motor purs. The kickdown is well adjusted. I just wonder if it is not the catalytics that are durty/jammed. How much time does it take to get them out . Any easy way to check them. Any suggestion if they are packed.? Too $$$ to change. Denis from Montreal.
