I had a similar symtom, It turned out to be the pinch bolt connecting the lower steering shaft u-joint to the rack was loose. Check all of the pinch bolts in the collumn to make sure they are tight. After that if it's still there, time to check ball joints, tie rod ends, and the rack itself for play. Richard Dixon
