Exciting news: Just ran the Jaguar across country again, and no mishaps, at least none from the car. To ready for the trip, I gave the engine a once over, and then stripped the distributor cap to the check the centrifugal advance. It was as spry as a spring chicken. Good omen. To top it off, I gave the car a new coat of wax. I fired up the Jaguar and proceeded from North Carolina to Connecticut, with a layover at Gettysburg, Penn. With the top down, we drove slowly through the area of Pickett's charge, just outside of Gettysburg. With the historical part of our trip behind us, we headed further north, never catching sight of an xj-s on the way. One night in New York City, though, we kept a lookout and saw two xj-s convertibles driving on Broadway, along with a blue e-type featured in a multi-story high ad for The Avenger. Guess the jags still have a class image. Anyway, we made the entire trip North and back with no hassles from the car. No temperature guage fluctuation. Just reliable, excellent performance. I thought that deserved mention, since we most often hear on this list of the troubles of jag ownership. --Steve '88 H&E, 56k
