[xj-s] The great british rubber exorcism...

... has been completed (for now).

FYI:

Polyurethane front end upgrade
--------------------------------------------

Lower inners
Upper inners
Sway bar end links
Shock mounts
Steering rack mounts already done
A new set of bridgestone RE710 225/60x15

(i.e. everything except sub-frame and sway bay middle bushes).

1 week of evenings + weekend job.

Much nicer feel. Hasn't reduced the comfort factor at all. Much
crisper feel (I can now feel it understeering). A little more high-
frequency feel, but it stills feel like a jaguar should. These tires are
awesome too!

Radiator system reshuffle
------------------------------------

Bypassed and removed the rusted out header tank.

Added a $5 second-hand plastic catch tank, connected to a newly
added fitting braized onto the transfer pipe cap fitting. Looks just
like it belongs. If its good enough for almost every japanese car
ever made, its good enough for me.

Replaced the low coolant sensor with a bolt and grommet fitted to
the neck of the transfer pipe (just above the highest water channels
in the head). This might actually tell me something useful, like "the
water channels in the head don't have water in them"

New generic 15lb radiator cap, to replace the old one that didn't
seal.

Runs cooler that ever (i.e. never over 1/4" no matter how hard its
pushed) . The little fan by itself can cool the engine at idle.

And yes it does still automatically bleed and refill.

Steering pipes
--------------------

Replaced the scarily cooked power steering return pipes, with
generic lp hydraulic hose. Stopped all my little leaks.

Its great to be back on the road again. You forget just how magical
these cars are when you don't drive them for a while.
