While picking up my radiator after rodding, the guy and I were discussing that coolant level sensor. It's nothing more than a pin that makes electrical contact with the coolant itself, and is installed in a rubber grommet; it's a wonder the pressure doesn't simply push it out. He whips out a sensor for a GM car that is clearly functionally identical but physically quite different. This sensor is designed to plug into a dedicated boss in a radiator with plastic headers. It has two O-rings on it, and a clip arrangement designed to snap around a flange to hold it in place. There's no way to use this sensor on the Jag, at least not without creating some sort of boss somewhere -- totally uncalled for, since a brass bolt in a grommet would probably do this job! However, what occurred to me was that, since this sensor requires an electronic unit to convert the ohmage to an on/off signal for the light on the dash, it may be cheaper to get this electronic unit from GM than from Jaguar. Anyone know their GM parts lists? This needs to go in the book. -- Kirbert | If anything is to be accomplished, | some rules must be broken. | - Palm's Postulate
