I also purchased the conversion kit from John's Cars. One thing I noticed is that if you decide to go back to your Lucas or Bosch stock alternator. It looks like you do not need to remove the bracket. The pivot point for the GM alternator is to the right of the stock pivot point & looks like it would be completely out of the way. The instructions are very detailed and also lists part #'s for several US chain part stores. It sort of threw off the parts clerk when they asked what car do you want it for, just gave them THEIR part #. Took the clerk a few to find it. Fortunately I had an old alternator out of a 78 Trans Am lying around. Put it in the box & got my $20 core back. Now if I want I can look into what is wrong with my Lucas & correct it or get it corrected & keep as a spare. With the cost of the kit & GM alternator (even without getting my core charge back) is still cheaper then a stock re-built Lucas. Normal disclaimers apply. John Himes 88 XJ-S 114K Miles :-) PS. Thanks to who posted www.stewartcomponents.com Very informative stuff on cooling system basics.
