OK, "this guy" will tell you that I wasn't screwing with _anything_ in the electrical system with the battery connected. I learned my lesson years ago while nearly welding an open end wrench across the positive terminal of a battery to the chassis of the car. (Say after me, "ground off first, ground on last"). Sorry if I did not make this obvious point in my earlier post. I guess I considered that basic information not unlike "how to jack up a car."
