[xj-s] Autofrost-R406A, John Bertsche

John,
I can't diagnose your AC problem but I have talked to several people
that have used autofrost/R406A with good luck. I have seen one car that
had problems in which the compressor burn't up. The oil carrier
component in the blend is R600 which if I got my info right is a smaller
molecule than the other components. Smaller molecules leak out easier
than larger ones (e.g. R134 leaks much easier than R12) so if the system
has leakage the R600 oil carrier my preferentially leak out. The end
result is obvious. If you want to know more than what's posted on the
Autofrost home page(s) check out:
http://www.get-us.com/cgi-cgi/netforum/max/a/8--3.3.3.3.1 and the chain
through 3.3.8.3. There is some concern over R600 being a good carrier
of mineral oil. The solution appears to be adding POE (ester) oil. Poor
compressor lubrication might be the cause of pressure fluctuation.
Good Luck,
Tom Sturdivant
