[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Talk about dealer service!
Hi all, Just had to share this with you all. About a year ago I bought the one and only part for my E I'd even purchased from a jag dealer. It was a horn relay and cost $19. CDN. The part's man *had* to enter the sale into the computer. "It's the rules!" he said. He entered the info but had to "click" on "model type" before he could exit the program. He searched long and hard but under "model" he could not find "E-Type" nor "XKE". "That's ok," I assured him, "it's pretty old, probably not in there." "Oh, sir, *every* model is in the computer!" Many minutes passed as I shuffled from one foot to the other; leaned on the counter, walked around the showroom...."I'll have it in just a moment, sir, would you like a coffee?" "That's ok, Harry, (We were beginning to form a relationship so I figured I could call him by the name badge on his burgundy jacket)" I said, "I really have to go." "One moment...hey, Joe," he called to a man hunched over a parts cataloge in the corner, "I can't find a XKE in the computer." "Joe", the company computer expert tried for several minutes then gave up, "put it under... ah....(click) there, it's done!" I have no idea under which category my E-Type is listed but yesterday I received an letter from the jag dealer; (Which says in part) Dear Mr. Daly, Our service records on your 1962 Jaguar indicate that the following items now need attention: Dealer Recommended Oil Change Keep your car's value and keep it operating in top performance! Gee, maybe I'll get a re-call on boot lids that pop open! Charles Daly, Toronto, Canada '62 E-Type, ots, flat floor. -------------------------------------------------- "Laugh? I thought I'd die!" A.
