[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Oil Pressure High - Causes?
My oil pressure is reading in the 75 - 80 lbs at idle and in the 85 - 90lbs when running. I have just checked, cleaned and replaced the boot and filter on the Crankcase Breather unit. I was really hoping this was going to be it. No luck. The next step is the Oil Presssure Release Valve. For some reason I do not have my hopes up high that this is going to solve the problem. Maybe it will. I am going to get the part this weekend and change it. I have considered the sensor but it doesn't make sense that it is not working. I would expect that it would either give no reading at all or the needle would be flopping all over the place. This seems to be fairly constant. A new sensor from the Dealership is 100.00 US. I am not to keen on replacing this unit if the one I have is working. I will of course if I have to but I am looking for more ideas on what the problem might be. Is it possible that the ducts in the engine block are clogged. If so is there an additive that can be added to the oil to break this stuff up. Then do an oil change to get rid of it. Thanks Steve.
