Hello Jag Lovers My name is Jay Jackett and I have just returned to New Zealand after living in the London for 18 months. Now that life is a bit more stable and I have a bit more money to indulge myself I've become absolutely fixated with buying a Jaguar. My plan is to save and purchase a mid-eighties Series III Sovereign and use it as daily transport. Although Series I and II cars are significantly cheaper I don't know how they'd stand up to everyday use. From what I've read so far the advice is to keep away from Series II altogether but buy a Series I as a weekend car. What do readers think about the XJ12? I have seen an 83 and 84 advertised for about $12,000 ( US$7,500 ). They have most likely been imported from the UK. I can't imagine many New Zealanders being able afford these vehicles new. If I do find a good import it would be interesting to know how much these vehicles are being bought for in the UK ( Can anyone help me here? ). Most of the XJ6's in New Zealand were assembled in the country at the British Leyland factory in Nelson. Does anyone have any information on what models and how many were made. Cheers.
