[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Painting Ribbed Covers
A method I used which worked. Before you paint the covers, put Vaseoline Jelly on the ribs to cover the area you don't want the paint to stick to and then paint the covers. Simply wipe the Jelly off when the paint is good and dry. If the ribs are shiney and brite before you do the job, it will look good. Some people use parafin wax (available in stick form ) like a candle! A thin coat is all it takes to prevent the paint from sticking to the ribs. You can use this technique for painting when trying not to paint over decals, etc. If you screw up, get some alumi-strip paint remover and strip and start over. Alumistrip is safe and is available at most auto paint stores like Sherwin Williams auto paint division.
