Tom,

I have a Motorola flip phone which sits in a cradle fitted in the space where 
the passenger side ash tray normally lives, the rest is under the console.
Its a standard Motorola offering in Australia.

In my series III I mounted the handset on a flexible pole or mobile
mount stalk.  This is then screwed into the transmission tunnel on the
passenger side.  This way no screws go into the console anywhere and the
phone sits at a nice angle.
