[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] To Chad on the OPUS
Chad had written, I saw your post on the MSD system in the old V-12 Jag. If memory serves the rotor mag triggers the ECU for the FI,so it could not be changed. Chad: I think that there are two triggers in the distributor one triggers the ignition and the lower unit triggers the fuel injection. Maybe someone out there can enlighten us on the truth of this, I have not seen a distributor in some years now. The second trigger is the reason why I can not easily replace the distributor. But that has never stopped us before. Given that I know what the signals look like from each trigger I can replicate them. I made a really trick distributor for a 6 cyl MG some time ago. We built a minuiture crank trigger wheel ( a disk with magnets in it) and installed it into the stock distributor. Used an external timing computer for the advance curve. That timing was rock steady all the way through the RPM band...trick part if I say so myself.. I know of a few folks who wished to remove the OPUS system for the car due to replacement cost. So I'm open to try if I can get the parts to work with. Jeff 62mk2 58 mk1 (needs a home) 74 midget +
