RE: My Mk2 has arrived!!

Dear Makoto; Thank you very much for the well written account of your quest
to be a Jaguar Mk2 owner in Japan. I enjoyed reading it very much. It helps
all of us, I think, to be reminded of the depth of enthusiasm and
committment that was the foundation of our relationships with our cars. It
is too easy to grow familliar and forget the passion. I am going to print
out your story and let my wife read it so she can realize that I am not the
only one who "behaves strangely" where my Mk2 is concerned.

Please let us know as soon as you actually get your hands on it. I
want to hear more of this East/West Jaguar drama. We Mk2 owners will burn a
candle in our hearts for you and your car. From my experience you will not
regret your decision. It sounds as though you have purchased a sound and
well maintained car. It is much easier to keep it that way than to bring it
back to that state after serious deterioration as happened to so many Mk2's.
I have been working on mine quite a lot and I am impressed by the sensible
and solid engineering that went into the design of the car. In many ways it
is much simpler and easier to service that more modern cars. Even the
dreaded Lucas Electrical wiring is actually simple and solid. My electrical
system has given me no problems at all. Of course, I do not live in a high
corrosion area, but if you do there are ways of inhibiting contact corrosion
such as silicone grease.

I hope we can assist you whenever you need it, and I feel sure we
will be learning from your experiences as well.

                                        Best Regards, Ken Wallace
