This does not seem normal to me.< On the contrary, it's highly desirable to get some feedback from the road surface. I remember with horror driving a (then brand new) 1969 Pontiac Parisienne; its power steering was utterly dead, and it had to be driven purely on visual clues. Well, to be truthful, there was an auditory clue as well: if you turned the wheel a little too abruptly, the front tyres squealed (*then* the car started turning...). - Jan
