I have a '65 Mk2 with a Delanair (no. 889) AC unit in the boot. Used a York compressor and had three controls, one for temperature and two for fan speeds (two fans located on the evaporator unit) The fan controls (each a 4 position switch) were located on a face plate which carried the Jaguar logo and name along with the control calibration. While the PO kept much of documentation on the car (I found the warranty card in the side pocket) there was nothing on operation of the AC. There is no reference in the owners manual for use of the unit so I doubt it was factory installed. I have spoken with Vintage Air in Texas. They think the boot evaporator unit will work fine with HFC134a but I might need a new condenser. It's a shame, as the unit had three condensers, one before the radiator, one below the radiator (horizontal mount) and a third tucked in the driver's side wing with its own fan!. For my own curiosity, were three condensers usual or was this a "Texas" thing. george leicht glite@eos.net References:
