I once took a V12 E Type for a drive around the block & accidentally shifted it into "R" while going about 30MPH. It made a loud noise and sounded rather sick until we noticed the vacuum hose that popped off. Somehow I never was fond of automatic E Types after that & I've always been careful with the poorly designed detent that's on the XJ6C as well. It's a FAR superior design on the new Jaguars... -Steve A. '67 E Type Coupe '76 XJ6C '91 XJ40
