In ref to your question, the vehicles we now call Mk1's were called the Jaguar 2.4 l Saloon and the Jaguar 3.4l Saloon. That is their official title. They were only refered to as Mk1's after the Mk2 was released and it is most common to refer to them as such The title Mk1 is not recognised officially by the factory Hope this helps Lachlan 1958 2.4 L Saloon References:
