[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Mk2 etc front subframe mounts: conclusion
Listers, A couple of weeks ago I posted a request for help with which way round the v-mounts go on the Mk2 (and other compact saloons) front subframe. I thought it should be a daft question, but it seems to be a common problem: most respondents had got it wrong first time! and reference material is confused. The conclusion is...the tongue/tab goes at the front. Ryan: there is a spacer on the nose of the subframe that contacts the rear face of the front plate of the front sandwich mounting when everything is done up tight: no shearing. I have an ascii diagram if you want. My problem with the steering column not reaching was due to not realizing that there is adjustment possible between the upper column splines and the upper (sliding) uj. This sliding joint was rather sticky too. Many thanks to those who took the time to reply and/or look under their cars! Cheers, Ted ejt@wg.icl.co.uk
