Don't know if they work.< Let's not get paranoid about oil pressure. Brief drop-outs (running into minutes) do no harm at all; it's not the pressure shown by the gauge that is maintained in the bearing; the dynamic pressure where the lubricant takes the load in the bearing is actually much higher. The pressure gauge is only a diagnostic guide to bearing condition; I remind you that most cars (and motorcycles) don't have one. That's the factory's way of saying that the oil pressure doesn't matter as long as the red lamp doesn't come on. To put the oil matter once more into perspective: I have a portable generator with a Honda OHV engine. This engine has a plain big-end bearing formed in the connecting-rod metal. It's splash-lubricated; oil thrown up from the sump enters, probably only while the rod accelerates upwards, through a small hole at one side where the straight part of the rod begins. I used this generator for four years while living in a caravan (trailer). It clocked up 20,000 hours @ 2,400 rpm and the rod was still OK. All the engine needed was a set of rings and a good valve-grind. -Jan
