[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Re: Scale models of Jaguars?
On Feb 7, David L DuPuy asked about scale models of Jaguars. Some info: - Burago (Italy) makes 1/18 metal models, either already built or requiring a little assembly (mostly snap-on, 10-year old skill level). Prices in Switzerland equivalent to around 20-25 US$. The Jags I'm sure of are E-Type S1 convertible and coupe, and SS100. I seem to remember seeing an XJ220 in a catalogue, and maybe other models. They also have other scales and colour schemes. Decent value. - Majorette (France) makes a 1/24 metal and plastic E-Type S1 coupe, about 15 US$, some assembly required. Lousy - Solido (France) makes a die-cast 1/43 XJ12 S2, about 10US$. Lousy - Heller (France) makes a 1/43 XJ-S plastic kit, about 8 US$. Haven't built it yet, but the quality and details seem OK. - Tamiya (Japan) makes a 1/24 Mk II platic kit, about 25 US$ Haven't built it yet, but it looks the usual Tamiya quality (i.e., pretty good), perhaps even better (carpeting, wood-like decals for dashboard, metal transfers). - I remember reading about a UK company called SMTS which builds a high-quality XJ6 scale model, about 60 UK Pounds, no further details. Hope this helps, John. --------------------------------------------------------- MGNOC ED-318 We currently have: 86 Jaguar XJ-6 Sovereign 88 Lancia Tema i.e. Turbo 86 Motoguzzi Le Mans IV We used to have: 81 Jaguar XJ-12 86 Opel Monza 2.5i 79 Peugeot 305 81 Fiat Ritmo 65 assorted 125 cc motorcycles
