[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Expansion Tank
Richard asked >Has anyone ever fitted a radiator expansion tank (overflow >bottle) to a MK2? I thought it might save some precious coolant >pouring on the road,Is it worth the effort ? It should find its own level. If you fill the radiator, it will overflow. The natural level (cold) is actually down a few inches, you can just see it when you remove the radiator cap, just at the bottom of the filling bit, but will be full when hot. I fitted an expansion tank to the S-Type years ago (from an allegro dare I say), and it made no difference. removed it. I added no water during last summer, the first year on the road with the car for a long time, and in about 1000 miles, added no water (although I checked frequently) Alastair Lauener 64 S-Type
