RE: Hood scoops on XJS

     Kirby, Richard, All,

In answer to the 2 E-Mail responses I have read so far.

     1) Kirby -- You are correct, the air intakes on my engine are not
linked tightly to the NACA ducts on my car (I would not like to cause
distortions in the bonnet due to the engine moving when the car is
running). At the moment the modified air intakes sit directly behind
the NACA ducts, thus taking most of their air supply (I hope) from
there. I agree that the way this mod has been done is by no means as
easy as your own modification, but our circumstances were very
different (This was only 1 of a number of MAJOR, although fairly
subtle in appearance, body modifications to my car, which were
performed prior to the bare-metal respray). The ducts can prove VERY
expensive to fit, but I like the overall look which they have given
     the front of the car.

     2) Richard -- There should be no noticeable handling changes due to
the new air intakes, although I can't really comment on this, as
before they were installed the car was a completely standard V12 which
then went through a major engine, transmission, suspension and body
transformation into something resembling a smoothed out XJR-S/Lister
with up to 475BHP on tap.

     3) Kirby -- Would forming a seal between the NACA ducts and the air
intakes on the engine (I would assume, using some type of foam so that
I don't deform the bonnet) give me a noticeable benefit? If it will
then I will use the next months that it is hibernating to make these
     changes.

     Martin
