[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Recent acquisition of E-Type S2 2+2
I've just bought a "varying condition" 1969 E-type 2+2. Body is excellent, mechanicals are okay, interior could be described as completely shot. I've little recent (but plenty of past) experience of working on my own cars, but I can follow a Haynes manual pretty well, and am enthusistic to get to personal grips with this car. Some questions, firstly a problem that needs fixing:- 1. The radiator leaks from a couple of seams and from a small spigot at the top. Is it possible to repair rads, is it sensible, or, should I get a new, or decent used one. then a few possibles 2. Does anyone have any experience fitting an electronic ignition system. They are sold as completely removable if you want to revert to originality, are they? Are they effective? 3. Similarly, what about a twist-on oil filter conversion kit? 4. Driving both the UK and France, I need wing mirrors. Any views on wing or door or window mounted types? 5. The current tyres fitted to the pressed steel wheels are 205/70R15. The original recommended sizes according to the handbook are 185VR15 . The tyres need replacement soon. Should I revert to the original size? Does anyone recommend any particular make of tyre?
