[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Leaking injectors
At the risk or repeat, or wot, I am unfamiliar with what is in the archives, here goes. Finally diagnosed my hot starting problem to be a leaking injector. Not too hard to do, the thing smelled pretty bad of gas yesterday. I pulled the cold start injector, as I suspected it of not closing properly (it was also the easiest to get out! Not that one... Tried to pinch the fuel hoses when running, as it is probably not sealing properly (unit also runs rich lately, you know poor gas mileage). Only one that caused any drastic change in idle was 6 and it acutally caused an increase in idle speed (maybe it is too rich?). How easy is it to pull an individual injector, I assume the plate that holds them as pairs is taken off and the injector extracted. If I find it is leaking, can it be cleaned or do I have to replace. I have lots of air, and in fact was thinking of testing by pressurizing to about 20psi and seeing if they will bubble air into a can of solvent. I thought about using kerosene as water appears to be bad news... Can they be back pressured to attempt to blow out foreign matter. That is what I suspect happened as it happened quite suddenly.
