Seems to me they would work well at speed. However, I'm not sure how much benefit they would provide at the worst-case condition: car parked with hot engine. The louvers in the hood would allow hot air to rise out, but the side extractors might not be as effective. Also, I suspect they'd be a LOT harder to install.
