XK150 DifferentialsHello to all, How do I tell whether I have a Salisbury or E.N.V. Differential. I have a 1958 xk-150 fhc with a 3.4 engine and a 4 speed manual transmission without overdrive. Best regards. - Don Sime Salisbury. Only early Xk-120's came with ENV axels. - George Badger If you are interested in what gear ratio you have in your Salisbury differential (there were options), an empirical determination may be made by jacking up one wheel with the gearbox in neutral, rotating the driveshaft while counting the number of full turns, and relating that to the number of turns of the rear wheel that is off the ground. Put a piece of masking tape or a chalk mark on the tire so you can see it while you turn the drive shaft. The higher the number of turns you use, the more precise your measurement will be. Divide the number of turns of the driveshaft by half the number of turns of the wheel (one wheel will turn at twice the speed of two wheels turning together). If you find out you have a 3.31 ratio, I would like to trade for a 3.77. I would consider a ratio lower than 3.31 but I think those might be rare and I'm not sure I want to go that far anyway. - Bruce Cunningham, '53 OTS In addition, ENV diffs have a dip stick to check the fluid level. The dipstick has a "ENV" imprinted on it. - Cleo Bay, XK120, XK140
