Dash Securing Screws

Dash Securing Screws

My dash is currently held on by slot head screws which work but don't look
the part. Can anybody suggest where I may find a pair of these (the
bakelite headed ones sitting at top right and left of centre panel. Screws
from MKII look right but are way too short. I tried Guy Broad but no luck.
Happy to buy if somebody has a few spare.

Hi Bruce,

I noticed your XK lovers email relating to securing screws. As far as I am
aware, the XK140 ones are of a brass type with the screw length approx 3.5
mm. XK150 ones are of a black Bakelite material type and approx 2.5 mm
screw length The XK140 ones are £7.10 each plus the dreaded VAT and
carriage and these are available from Coventry Auto Components Tel: 01203
471217 (sorry no email yet). Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dave Roche

Bruce,
you can make servicable but non-authentic replacements by using the black
plastic terminal nuts from a 6 volt rectangular lantern battery and lengths
of machine screws "Loctited" on until the correct screw heads come your
way. Look out for the judges though,

British Auto USA has XK140 "instrument panel thumb screws", part number
BD8897. I don't have a their current price list. The 1991 list shows them
at $20.ea; I would hope the price has since come down.

In a reply to Dave Roche, Bruce Lake suggested that British value-added-tax
(VAT) applies to orders exported from the U.K.. This is not the case.
