Concours Series II Arm RestsI have a 1969 series II 2+2, no. 40996 with a build date of Jan 27, 1969. The car, as it was when I bought it, has armrests on each door. The arm rests are plain black, no chrome trim or other embellishments. I don't know for sure, but I suspect they are original; the screw positions match to the captive nuts on the door. I always understood that series II Es came without armrests. Question: Is it possible that Jaguar used existing stocks of door panels and armrests on early series II cars and hence the armrests are correct? If so how would I go about convincing a judge at concours? Any clarification greatfully appreciated. - John Walker John: It is my understanding that early series two E-Types had no arm rests but that later Series II did have them. My 69 FHC does not but my friends 70 OTS does have them. The car no. of my 69 is 1R25820, which if I recall, is in the first 10% of production of Series II. - Bob Reid, 61 E-Type OTS, 69 E-Type FHC, 73 E-Type OTS, 84 XJ6 Your armrests sound like those on my 1970 OTS. - Regards, Jim Ashbrook
