Dave Massy's '58 XK150 OTS

Currently undergoing a full restoration in Seattle, Washington USA, this car sat in a barn in Ohio for over 20 years before moving to Seattle. Initial intention was just to do the minimal amount of work needed to get it going but it soon turned into a full off frame restoration the way these things do.

This is unfortuantely the only picture I have of the car before any work commenced on it.

The car was gradually stripped of interior and chrome, then the engine was removed and then blasted.

The car was then moved to Phantom restorations in Seattle where it was completely disassembled.

Here the frame can be seen with one of the sections being repaired, although bascially sound two rotten areas were found at opposite corners.

The frame was repaired and then painted.

New sill structures were obtained from Wray Schelin at WES Parts. Here the new and original sills are shown together up against the frame, the two matched in dimensions perfectly.

Gradually the body was reassembled on the frame to ensure all the components line up. At this stage it is not permanently attached to the frame as it will be removed for painting. The rear clip on the original car was in very poor condition with plenty of holes, so it was replaced with a clip form another car from california that was nodoubt in a collision at some point.
The sidelight pods are replacements, while the main headlight pods are the originals although they have been removed and reattached. Originally these would have been spot welded and then leaded in. We're using more modern techniques of welding all the way around and using plastic filler rather than lead as it is much easier to work with.

I've still to get the photo's developed but the car is now primed and looking alot more like a car, still a long way to go though.....
