Alan Cruce's XK150 OTS

Alan Cruce's XK 150

I have a 1961 XK150 OTS 3.8 standard which I purchased in 1975 in New Mexico. The following are the numbers off placard, and they match those components in the car:

Chassis  - S832171DN
Engine - VA2265-8
Body - F17258
Gearbox - JLS46798JS
Miles - 57,718

I was a young lieutenant in the Air Force, and the car was not in good shape. It was licensed and I did drive it on the highway, but it needed work. Some of the repairs that had been previously accomplished were rather crude. I probably paid too much, but I loved the sound of the engine. I went to pilot training in 1976 and parked the Jag at my dad's house (in North Texas) planning to work on it sometime in the future. Of course I didn't touch it.

Last year my father got tried at looking at it and decided to work on it. It was not in good shape after sitting for 22 years. The plan is to get it in good running order to be used as a good weekend car. After minor and not so
minor repairs, the 150 runs and stops (stopping is most important). Still needs quite a bit of work, probably a year from being a road car. Mechanically, I believe it is original. The interior, was redone before I purchased it and the fabrics will need to be replaced. Since it has spent its entire life in New Mexico and Texas, it has very little rust. Thank God for hot, unbearable weather.
