XK140 interior colors

XK140 Interior Colors

All you clever, creative XK people please give me inspiration. I am just
completing the restoration of a '140 roadster. The colour, not to most
people's taste, is primrose yellow which I was told, is near the original,
(easily checked through JD Heritage). The only logical interior is black
but it's not a colour that shows detail very well. Are there any other
options that would look right/good. I am prepared to be radical. I'd love
to go two tone but were any '140s originally trimmed that way and if so,
what two tones can I use? (Perhaps black and tan,? With apologies to the
Irish) The primrose looks wonderful by the way. - Roger Learmonth

Roger: I can offer the following re a yellow XK (a colour I normally
associate with an E type): JCNA XK140 (23) notes non standard colours
observed in micro film records: Canary Yellow. Was your car one of these?
Harvey's book: lists: from December 1952 to October 1954: Colour
references: 22. Yellow with Black (trim) 23. Yellow with Pale blue (trim)
What does your Heritage Certificate say was the original colour, trim and
hood colours of your car? My records do not show any duo colours for XK140
(120 OTS could have Duo Blue or Biscuit and Red, and some others). -
Regards, John Elmgreen

John, Thanks for the info. I haven't applied for a JDH cert yet but I think
the original colour was canary. A more vivid shade than the current
primrose. I guess from what you say, a two tone '140 interior will look
pretty odd. Oh well it was a nice idea! - Roger Learmonth
