Accelerator controls finish

Accelerator Controls Finish

Can anyone tell me if the accelerator controls moving forward to the
carburetters are unfinished, painted silver, or are they chrome?

Thanks
Skip Smith

Skip,

I believe this subject was discussed some months ago and the consensus
was that they should be left unpainted. I think there was also a
suggestion of using "blueing" to darken the metal and to help prevent
corrosion.
Neville Laing

On my car, the controls are unfinished. I believe they left the factory
that way.

FYI,
XK120 OTS #670640 has bare steel linkage from pedal through rocker links on
left and right side of engine, but "plated" controls going forward to
carbs. Not sure if this is chrome, or nickle, has yellowish tint.

On the XK120 and XK140, the moving parts of the throttle linkages are a
clear cadium coating. Non-moving brackets are painted black. Bolts holding
the brackets to the firewall should be blued.
