Add a Cup Holder

Add a Cup Holder

George in Orlando

I have a simple mod to hold my coffee in the morning, and a cold coke in the afternoon. I removed the passenger side ashtray whole assembly). I cut a piece of 1/4" plywood a little larger than the rectangular whole left by the ashtray removal. I covered the plywood with black leather (just happened to have some, vinyl that matches the console will work), and drilled a 1/8" whole in the middle. I purchased a "Spillmaster Jr." cupholder at Pep Boys (this is an adjustable black plastic item that will hold cans or wide cups with handles), and screwed the Spillmaster to the piece of leather covered plywood. You need about a 1 1/2" screw so you have enough slack to maneuver the wood through the ashtray hole and center it before tighteneing the screw.

This works great (I did it about three years ago), and most non-jag folks think it is a factory item. And it's completely reversible without any damage to the original parts.
