The Mark 2 of Makoto Honjo

These photos were taken at a temple near my house to provide a suitable 'oriental' feel to them.
My son is hiding in the car with his friend!

In April 1998, my son Aldra suddenly developed an urgent desire to widen his horizons and brush up his English by attending school in the US. A mad rush to find a school that would take him in, and cutting through red tapes of various stripes ensued. To make a long story short Akira has started attending summer school in Arizona from June 20. Realizing that fellow saloon owning Jag Lover Mark Stephenson was in Phoenix, and more important

(I still have my priorities correct, I hope) not trusting the airlines to safely guide a non English speaking 16year old dog tagged kid through the wilds of LAX airport, I decided to combine a trip accompanying Akira to Arizona with an occasion to get in touch with Mark to check out on the progress of his Mark 1 restoration. The picture here is the Stephenson's and Akira (in case you haven't figured, Mark's the second from left person and Akira is the far right person) posed around the bicarb blasted and resprayed body shell of Mark's Mark 1. Keep up the good work Mark -- however long it takes

The picture with the car only is the latest picture of my Mark 2 after it went through a major (and financially painful) one year face lift (more
about that once I have the time).  The louvered bonnet you see is my "summer bonnet" which I picked up at Stoneleigh last autumn.
I'd appreciate if you could replace my picture presently on the Saloons homepage, with the one being attached to this mail.  The
sew-on patch on my sweatshirt is the Very Immature Racers of the US (VIRUS) patch courtesy of Tom Veale, whose article once
graced the Saloons homepage.

Regards
Makoto Honjo
