Fri, 16 Jan 1998 Channel IX - brakes - more flogging I have spent 3 hours working through digests #68 through #99 in one sitting - a marathon effort but very well worth it. The IX will be up on stands next week to start on the brakes. A propos all the replies and discussions - (I haven't the inclination to do the 'snipping') about our car and the drama:- a) The anti-creep solenoid has been disconnected for several years b) I replaced the rear flex hose only 2 months ago (along with fronts as well) c) I did not (blush) flush out the pipework nor the reservoir which I know (BLUSH) has horrid black rubbery bits sat in the bottom. I do say though that the little filtery thing in the reservoir seemed to be intact. d) the servo has not been examined at all (if it works don't fix it?) I read the chats about why only the rears locked up - v. odd - specially as the pedal went solid, rock hard. I will ponder some more. John has had the car for 15 years now - I only joined in 4 years ago. He recalls a couple of previous rear brake heating problems but did stop and wait for cooling before carrying on. I reckoned the overhaul of the master cylinder had fixed that :( Something else that worries me (before I get under her) why was the handbrake brilliant before the drama but now useless? - it's pads would have been clear of the rotor and, as you will know, is not connected the hydr. system at all. Hmmmmm... I'm now searching for cylinder re-lining people and sources of new seals/boots. More soon - thanks for all your thoughts on the problem
