E-Type Photo Album "Annett"

Noel Annett's 1968 2+2 at Canberra "Terribly British Day" November 1997. (Dianne's Old English White Daimler Sovereign (420) is next to it)

Noel Annett and Family

The car is a Carmen Red/black leather 4.2 Litre Series 1.5, 2+2, 4 speed manual, running 195x75x15 tyres on CWWs, triple 2"SUs ("Ramflo" air filters) sports exhaust and 3.07 diff ratio. Running gear and interior are original.

Bought in May 1980 as an insurance write-off with 90,000 miles on the clock, it was in a pretty bad state when I first saw it. It had been stolen in Sydney, thrashed until the engine blew up, then pushed over a cliff and finished its life with the bonnet firmly embedded in the underbrush. The sump, head, bearings, carburettors and most of the exhaust were stashed in the rear hatch.

With some assistance from other enthusiasts, I rebuilt the engine and front and rear suspension and brakes and fabricated and fitted a new bonnet and picture-frame. I painted the car in 1982.. Thus one of these special and precious cars was saved from "parting out" and put it back on the road where it was mean to be. I have driven the car 30,000 miles since purchase in 1980.

Numbers are: Car: 1E51299 Engine: 7E54999-9 G/Box: KJS400.
