Title: Jaguar: Performance and Pride Hard to find

Author: Pete Lyons/Consumer Guide

Publisher: Publications International, Lincolnwood, IL, 1995 ISBN: 0517052458

Format: Slightly oversize, hardcover, 256 pages, 580 photos

Reviewed by Gordon Johnson

This is a glossy coffee-table book gives a historical overview from Lyon's early days through the XJ-S, but it's main contribution is the gorgeous color art. Artistic color photos of beautifully-restored cars, plus brochures, charts, historical photos, and factory diagrams. Lots of concept drawings and photos that show what might have been, nicely balanced against photos of the real thing

Content is organized into chapters for different sport models, with extra "On the Road" driver test chapters for the XK-120 and E-type. Saloons, however, are grouped into one chapter at the end. Cultured tone; no mention of crashboxes or crumpets here.

(Found two in remainder bins at book stores like BAM.)
