Jag-lovers Screen Saver user guide - Installation

Jag-lovers Screen Saver for Windows (32-bit)

©Jag-lovers 1998

This Screen Saver has no connection with Jaguar Cars Ltd nor is it endorsed by them. The word 'Jaguar' and the 'Leaping cat' device are the property of Jaguar cars Ltd. All images are taken from Jaguar Car brochures for which Jaguar Cars own the original Copyright. The software is provided free and 'as-is' for your personal use and enjoyment only and Jag-lovers can take no responsibility for any problems that may ensue from using it.

Installation/De-installation
V1.0.6 July 1998

Requirements

  • Windows 32-bit (Windows 95 (OSR2), Windows 98 or Windows NT)
  • Pentium class CPU preferred due to image processing requirements
  • 16Mb memory
  • Minimum 8Mb free disk space - more if you use optional additional images
  • Video card with at least 256 colours. The saver is optimised for 800 x 600 resolution or higher and 65k+ colours. VGA resolution will run but the images are poorer due to rescaling although some are available at VGA resolution by separate download

Installation (full version)

  • Copy the main Setup program to a temporary folder on your hard disk. If you do not have a copy, you can obtain it by going to
  • http://www.jag-lovers.org/screensaver.html

  • Stop all other programs running on your computer - Setup may file to run properly if you do not
  • Run Setup. This is a self-extracting executable
  • Follow the on-screen instructions - you may change the installation folder if you wish
  • Keep a note of where the program is installed - you will need it if you add more images!

  • The default is C:\Program Files\Jag-lovers Screen Saver\ - this may be different in non-English language locations
  • Once installed and Setup has ended, you may delete the original executable if you want to reclaim the disk space. You probably won't need it again as any upgrades use separate Setup programs
  • Setup will have installed Jag-lovers.scr as the screen saver - however, this is not installed in the default installation folder so don't be surprised if you can't find it there! This shouldn't be a problem as Windows knows where to find it
  • An initial set of images for the Screen Saver have been installed off the installation folder in a new folder called 'default'
  • The User Guide (the index is uguide.html) is in the Installation folder and there is a shortcut to it on your desktop

  •
  • There is another shortcut on your desktop - this starts the Screen Saver on demand! (It actually starts the current default saver, which might not be Jag-lovers)

De-installation

  • If you need to de-install the Screen Saver, use Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and select Jag-lovers Screen Saver
You now need to select and Configure the screen saver.
